A non-compliant tax invoice can cost a UAE business up to 5,000 per occurrence under FTA Cabinet Decision 49/2021 on the administrative penalties for tax violations. Multiply that by a busy month of invoicing and a single missing field — a forgotten TRN, an Arabic translation that never made it onto the PDF — turns into a five-figure problem. HIBR ERP's Sales & Tax Invoicing module exists so this never happens. Every document the system issues is FTA-compliant by construction: the 14 required fields from Cabinet Decision 52/2017 are present and validated before save, the supplier TRN is real-time checked against the FTA registry, and the layout is bilingual Arabic + English by default. The full quote-to-cash flow — Quote → Sales Order → Tax Invoice → Payment → Reconciled — runs on one record, one audit trail, zero rekeying.
How it works
- Quote → Sales Order → Tax Invoice in one click. Convert a quote to an order with a button. Convert the order to a tax invoice when delivery is done. Every conversion carries forward the line items, prices, discounts, customer, and ship-to address — no rekeying, no version drift.
- FTA-compliant tax invoice generation. Sequential numbering, supplier TRN, customer TRN where applicable, supply date vs issue date, line-item descriptions, unit price, quantity, discount, tax rate per line, tax amount per line, total before tax, total after tax, currency, words "Tax Invoice" in Arabic and English — all 14 mandatory fields under Article 59 of Cabinet Decision 52/2017.
- Credit notes and debit notes that reverse cleanly. A credit note created from an invoice carries the full original reference, reverses the VAT line under Article 62, and posts the GL adjustment automatically. Debit notes work the same way for upward corrections.
- Recurring invoices with FTA-correct date logic. Set up monthly retainers, annual subscriptions, school fees, or gym memberships. HIBR generates each invoice on the schedule, assigns the correct sequential number, applies the right supply date for VAT, and emails it bilingually.
- WhatsApp delivery with embedded payment link. Send the Tax Invoice to the customer's WhatsApp number with a Telr, PayTabs, or Stripe payment link inline. They tap, they pay, the invoice auto-marks as paid, and the settlement reconciles on the next bank-sync cycle.
- Customer statements and aging. Run a customer statement on demand: opening balance, every invoice and payment in the period, aging buckets, total due, payment link. Email or WhatsApp it. A one-tap payment link on the statement removes the friction that keeps aged debts unpaid.
UAE compliance details
The Sales & Tax Invoicing module is built around the FTA's invoice and credit-note rules:
- Federal Decree-Law 8/2017 on VAT (Article 65) — establishes the obligation to issue a Tax Invoice for every taxable supply. HIBR enforces this on save and prevents non-compliant variants.
- Cabinet Decision 52/2017 (Article 59) — defines the 14 mandatory fields of a Tax Invoice. All are present in the HIBR PDF and the underlying data model.
- Cabinet Decision 52/2017 (Article 62) — defines the rules for issuing a Tax Credit Note. HIBR's credit note flow follows this exactly, including the requirement to cross-reference the original invoice.
- Federal Decree-Law 47/2022 on Corporate Tax — invoices feed the revenue line in the CT return; HIBR tags every invoice with the CT classification (mainland, free zone qualifying, free zone non-qualifying) for accurate year-end computation.
- Bilingual requirement — Federal Law 1/2006 on Electronic Transactions and FTA guidance prefer Arabic alongside English; HIBR generates both on one PDF.
Tier availability
FTA-compliant tax invoicing, the full Quote → SO → Invoice flow, credit notes, debit notes, and bilingual PDFs are on Lite (199/month). WhatsApp invoice delivery with embedded payment links is a Pro (499/month) feature — the single tier feature most customers cite as the reason to upgrade from Lite. Enterprise (14,990/year) adds custom invoice templates, multi-entity invoicing, marketplace invoice automation, and unlimited recurring schedules.
Use case
Frequently asked questions
Can I customise the invoice template?
Yes. Logo, colour, font, and footer text are configurable on every tier. Full template customisation (custom blocks, custom fields, fully bespoke layouts) is included on Enterprise.
What if I issue invoices in a currency other than AED?
HIBR supports invoicing in AED + 5 currencies on Pro and all currencies on Enterprise. The invoice still shows the AED equivalent for VAT purposes, as required by Article 59(2) of Cabinet Decision 52/2017 when the supply is in the UAE.
Does the invoicing module also generate the e-invoice for the new PEPPOL mandate?
Yes — see the dedicated E-Invoicing page. Every Tax Invoice you raise can be transmitted as a UBL 2.1 / PEPPOL PINT-AE document to the FTA-accredited Access Point Provider when the Phase 1 mandate (B2G) takes effect.
